eRipples v2.48: Ripples of AUTHENTICITY

eRipples: a weekly splash of inspiration
version 2.48 [Monday, November 27, 2000]

PEBBLE ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

It is our choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities."
-J.K. Rowling, submitted by Gina Matkin

BOULDER ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Your actions
speak
so loudly
that I
cannot hear
your words.
-Hindu Proverb, submitted by Jeff Sinna

PONDER ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

I believe that one of the greatest sources of stress in our lives
erupts from the shadows between who we WANT to be (who we SAY we are)
and who we REALLY are. Our insecurity that we are not quite what
people want/need us to be sometimes lead us to create "characters" to
meet the expectations of our colleagues, friends, family and
ourselves.

If those characters do not feel REAL to us, though, we start to
suspect we are fraudulent which then deepens our insecurity and leads
us to hide even more of our true selves! The cycle continues and
creates disharmony and stress in our souls and in our everyday lives.

Your challenge this week is to BREAK THE CYCLE in one of two ways:

1. If there is a behavior, attitude, or skill that you WANT to have
that you do NOT have, do something concrete this week to add it to
your tools for living.

2. If you (or others in your life) have created an unrealistic ideal
for your behavior, attitude or skillset, spend a few moments this
week adjusting those expectations and accepting for now that where
you are at is 100% okay!

Ultimately, it is the combination of these two actions that will
allow you to accomplish amazing feats while enjoying your present.

Peace,
Paul

eRipples v2.47: Ripples of Gratitude

eRipples: a FREE weekly splash of inspiration
version 2.47 [Monday, November 20, 2000]

PEBBLE ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

It is not easy being grateful all the time.
But it's when you feel least thankful
that you are most in need of what gratitude can give you.
-Oprah Winfrey, submitted to eRipples by Sean Duggan

BOULDER ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire.
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?
Be thankful when you don't know something,
for it gives you the opportunity to learn.

Be thankful for the difficult times. During those times you grow.
Be thankful for your limitations,
because they give you opportunities for improvement.
Be thankful for each new challenge,
because it will build your strength and character.

Be thankful for your mistakes. They will teach you valuable lessons.
Be thankful when you're tired and weary,
because it means you've made a effort.

It's easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who
are also thankful for the setbacks.
Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive.
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles,
and they can become your blessings.

Last week I asked for people to submit Thanksgiving-related quotes,
and many people responded with a BOUNTIFUL supply of quotes & poems.
You can find them ALL by clicking on the THANKSGIVING QUOTES file at
http://www.egroups.com/files/eRipples/

It reminded me that these Ripples are rapidly growing into powerful
waves because of a steady stream of awesome submissions. I therefore
begin this week and end this issue by saying THANK YOU to the many
readers who dig up inspiration to share with us, and THANK YOU to all
of you who continue to take 60 seconds every morning to receive and
create Ripples of all kinds!

Peace and Thanks,
Paul

You're braver than you believe,
Stronger than you seem, and
Smarter than you think.

BOULDER ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

We are born into the world like a blank canvas.
And each person that crosses our path
takes up the brush and
makes their mark upon our surface.
So it is that we develop.

But we must realize,
there comes a day that
we must take up the brush
and finish the work.

For only we can determine
if we are to be just another painting
or a masterpiece.

Do you have any idea how much possibility that is wrapped up inside
of you? Some say we are like a piece of fruit with many seeds of
possibilities. I believe we are much more like a seed with orchards
of potential waiting patiently for permission to take root and GROW!

I hope you'll take just a moment this week to think about how MUCH
you have inside of you!

Peace,
Paul

eRipples v2.45: Ripples of YOUR VOICE

eRipples: a FREE weekly splash of inspiration
version 2.45 [Monday, November 6, 2000]

PEBBLE ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

There is a voice inside of you
that whispers all day long
"I feel that this is right for me,
I know that this is wrong"

No teacher, preacher, parent, friend,
or wise man can decide,
Whats right for you, so listen to
The voice that speaks inside

BOULDER ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Throughout history, it has been
the  INACTION of those who could have acted;
the INDIFFERENCE of those who should have known better;
the SILENCE of the voice of justice when it mattered most;
that has made it possible for EVIL to triumph.
-Haile Selassie, submitted by Jim Cissell, Sr.

I know you are sick of all the commercials,
all the polls, all the media coverage,
the endless discussions and the mind numbing rhetoric.

But remember this: no vote = no whining!

Please use your head,
your heart, and
YOUR VOICE!

Peace,
Paul
