The greatest achievement of the human spirit is to live up to
one's opportunities, and to make the most of one's resources.

Think of yourself on the threshold of unparalleled success. A whole
clear, glorious life lies before you. Achieve! Achieve!

What is the recipe for successful achievement?
To my mind there are just four essential ingredients:
Choose a career you love,
give it the best there is in you,
seize your opportunities, and
be a member of the team.
-Benjamin F. Fairless, submitted by Melanie H., Iowa

This week I spent time in Milwaukee with credit union trainers before hopping a flight to Las Vegas for another visit to USTA's Community Tennis Development Workshop. I challenged both groups to take action on information and ideas they gained from their meetings, and I challenge YOU to take some action too! What quick steps could you take right now that will help you ACHIEVE something useful in school, work, or life?

On your mark,
get set,
ACHIEVE!

Peace,
Paul

It has long been an axiom of mine that
the little things are infinitely more important.

Everyone is trying
to accomplish something big,
not realizing that life
is made up
of little things.

Every LITTLE THING counts, so right after you read this I want you to choose one little action that would help a friend, stranger, co-worker, classmate, or yourself and do it: offer a few minutes of your time, hold the door, smile, forgive someone, be more kind or more patient than necessary, etc. Do it, and notice just how big a difference that little thing makes.

Peace,
Paul

For one human being
to love another human being.
That is perhaps
the most difficult task
that has been entrusted to us,
the ultimate task....

I do hope you can spend a few minutes this week sharing your LOVE with someone else. We usually think of Valentine's Day as a chance to acknowledge romantic love, but there are so many other kinds of love to share: friendship love, familial love, or even universal love of humanity! So whether it is a significant other or best friend or sibling or neighbor or the person in the drive thru window, be sure to HONOR LOVE this week by giving it away!

Speaking of sharing love, I wonder if you have any inspirational magnets that you might share with me? I have a metal front door and want to cover it with inspirational magnets. I was going to purchase a bunch and then thought maybe some of you would have ones that have inspired you and yet you are ready to pass along. I promise share a picture of the door once it is filled up, and I will pass the magnets on to someone else when I'm sufficiently inspired!

Peace, and LOVE to you!

Paul

Go forward in life
with a twinkle in your eye
and a smile on your face,
but with great and strong
purpose in your heart.
Love life and look for its opportunities. . . .

Some of you spent Sunday watching the SUPER Bowl (with some SUPER commercials--I loved the talking eTrade baby and the talking Tide To Go stain!); others are preparing to participate in (or at least anticipate) the SUPER Tuesday primaries. Between these monumental occasions, I hope you can pause for a moment to notice that even your everyday regular life can be spectacular, special, and yes, I will use the word one more time: SUPER!

I reminded the remarkable student leaders at Western Oregon University over the weekend that college and indeed life speeds by very quickly and that deep enjoyment can evolve more profoundly from the regular and yet so precious daily activities than from the big, exciting marker events that often fill our memories and photo albums.

I dare you to choose one small routine or habit or chore this week and try very hard to recognize its SUPER power!

Peace,
Paul

P.S. To all of our LDS friends: we are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers!
