Life is a succession of lessons
which must be lived to be understood.

Success is not about perfection:
but, it is about commitment
and life-long learning.
If you stray from the path,
you get to choose to come back to it.
You get to discover what got in the way,
who you are, and what's important to you;
and, best of all, you get to feel the fulfillment
that comes from creating your life
based on your highest values.

What lessons will you learn this week?

What could happen if you took a few deep breaths and reminded yourself that you are a student in life, in work, in school, in each relationship you have--in every aspect of your life. Might you approach the tasks, projects, or people differently?

Why not try it and see? What have you got to learn?

Oh, and I'm attaching a smile from our collection; check out the rest at http://uROCKroadtrip.com and donate a smile if you have time this week.

Peace,
Paul

MOXIE: It's a street-smart spirit
that's as old as recorded history,
and as new as the riding sun.
David had it; Goliath didn't.
It's that intangible tangible.
You don't learn it in school and you can't get it from a book.
It can jump oceans and move mountains.
It says, "Make your life what it can be.
Take your life wherever it can go."

I've packed up some moxie and I'm ready for an ecstatic experience on the uROCK! Roadtrip! I've loaded my camera and some paper & markers into my smile-covered Prius so I can raise a few hundred SMILES to match all the MILES I'll drive in the next few weeks. If you're in Indianapolis or Bloomington, Indiana OR Cincinnati, Ohio, I'll hopefully see you at a Ripples MeetUp this week!

I'd love it if you kept up with the journey here: http://uROCKroadtrip.com (and you can always submit a photo of your smiling face holding an encouraging sign...I'll post it with the others!). I'll be giving short updates via Twitter and my Facebook Status. I'll strive to do blog entries every few days; mostly I'll carry the spirit of Ripples with me everywhere I go and try very hard to stay present and savor every moment of my journey!

In the meantime, I hope YOU can add some MOXIE to your life this week!

Peace,
Paul

Service is the rent we pay for being. It is the very purpose of life,

When you serve others
you really serve yourself.
It isn't so much
the reaction you will see,
but the reaction
you will feel within yourself.

Service comes in all shapes and sizes.

It can be the traditional philanthropy where we choose a person or organization in need and give time or money. It can also be part of our job to help customers, employees, co-workers, or others. Service can even be the way we choose to interact with each person we encounter. When you put on your "community service" or "work" hats on, I suspect it is fairly easy for you to be kind, generous, warm, and giving. What about the other opportunities in your daily life to serve others? Standing in line, driving, shopping, or just walking along: if you stay present and make eye contact with those around you, it is possible you will identify someone who needs a quick favor, a kind word, or just a warm smile. Please take extra care this week to notice opportunities to serve!

Please send some good energy my way as I make my first "beta stop" on the uROCK! Roadtrip. I'll visit Milwaukee this Wednesday to present a workshop for a business networking group AND stopping at a coffee shop afterwards for a "Ripples MeetUp" (contact me if you're in the Milwaukee area and interested in more info!). I'll be sharing my experiences with photos, texts, and blogs so tune in to http://uROCKroadtrip.com or make sure you're connected to me on Facebook, LinkedIn, and/or Twitter.

Peace,
Paul

Stick to your task till it sticks to you;
Beginners are many, but enders are few.
Honor, power, place, and praise
Will come, in time, to the one who stays.

Stick to your task till it stick to you;
Bend at it, sweat at it, smile at it too;
For out of the bend and the sweat and the smile
Will come life's victories, after awhile.

Many of you have been helping me unfold my longtime dream, and it feels good! I'm just wrapping up a 13 hour day of awesome "fine tuning" the uROCK Roadtrip, and in just over a week I'll have my first stop in Milwaukee. I made a quick demo of a smile compilation so you could see what I'm working towards:

If you like what you see, visit the uROCK! website for details on how to submit your smiling facing holding a sign of encouragement:
